Calcédonia is not a full mineral species It is a form of cryptocrystalline quartz.
Mentioned by Agricola (1546) of a stone named after the city of Chalcedoine.
It is not a mineral but a specific arrangement of quartz crystallites. It is polycrystalline, that is to say composed of monocrystals (the crystallites) "glued" to each other.
Calcedonian is in massive nipple or stalactitic form. It is a very hard stone.
