Attributed to Alexandre père et fils, famous harmonium maker
Jacob Alexandre's son, Edouard (1824-1888), quickly took an active part in the company, which was then called "Alexandre et Fils" and later "Alexandre Père et Fils". He was primarily responsible for developing the manufacture of melodiums due to his business acumen. Edouard Alexandre was made a Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1860[2].
In 1849, the company was awarded a silver medal at the National Exhibition of Agricultural and Manufacturing Industry Products in Paris. This success was crowned by a medal of honour at the Universal Exhibition of 1855.
